Mrs. Holly Collins
BA in Education, Linfield College, McMinnville, Oregon
Hello, my name is Holly Collins. I am originally from Tuscaloosa, born in Birmingham. As a child I attended Holy Spirit Elementary School from first grade through sixth grade. I finished middle school and high school in Bandon, Oregon, a small coastal community south of Coos Bay. I then attended Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 1996.
After graduating from Linfield, I moved to Seattle, Washington where I substituted in King County for a year. During that year, I came to Tuscaloosa on my spring break to visit my family, and interviewed with Mrs. Ana MacCrone for a teaching position. Later, she hired me, and that summer I moved back to Tuscaloosa. I taught fourth grade from 1997-1999 and sixth grade for one year before moving to Orlando, Florida in 2000, because of my husband's new job.
We lived in Orlando for three years and in Fort Walton Beach for two years. Now, we have come full circle and are back here in Tuscaloosa. I was fortunate to interview with Sister Elaine, and received the position in fifth grade that I currently have now. I am also the varsity volleyball coach for the Holy Spirit High School team. My husband, Jason, and I have two sons, Michael and William who attend Holy Spirit Elementary School.
